I work and live in Stockholm.
I mostly blow glass on ”free hand“, that is, not using any kind of mould and most times I make winegoblets, schnappsglasses, bowls, plates and bottles of varied shapes and colours. Unique or in small series where every object is ”different“, but the basic shape being the same.
Sometimes I finish off the piece by using some ”cold“ decorating technique, mostly engraving, using a flexible shaft machine or sandblasting.
I work alone and I rent time in a glassblowing studio run by a colleague of mine next door.
In my own workshop I work with engraving and make masks in the techniques of ”fusing“ and ”slumping“. For this work I use a ceramics kiln.
After visiting an exhibition of Commedia dellárte masks many years ago, I got interested in making masks in glass.
It is the making of the glass that is the driving force behind my interest in making glass.
Glass is a living material with a strong will and character of its own. It is a constant challenge, difficult and hard to work with, but never boring.
My work in glass is a dialog, a continuous journey towards surprising and unknown destinations.
Tomorrow I will try to make the glass objects I thought of when working today.
